Flabby Arms

Posted by Deelytz

I actually don’t have these, instead I am having problems of how big my arms are nowadays. I guess a heavy son who asks me to carry him once in awhile made it really muscular and big, I need to tone them down a little bit which is why I also want to try Jillian Michaels’ tips.

Dumbbell Biceps Curls

  1. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and your arms at your sides. Hold a dumbbell in each hand, your palms facing your sides. Exhale, and keeping your elbows locked against your rib cage, curl both arms three-quarters of the way up to your shoulders, rotating your wrists as you lift, so your palms end up facing your shoulders.
  2. Hold for a beat, focusing on squeezing your biceps. Inhale, and slowly lower your arms to the starting position; repeat.

Triceps Kickbacks

  1. Hold a dumbbell in each hand, palms facing your sides, and stand with your feet hip-width apart, with a slight bend in your knees. Bend forward from the waist so that your torso is nearly parallel with the floor. Bend both elbows so that your upper arms are locked at your sides and parallel to the floor (your forearms should be perpendicular to the floor).
  2. Keeping your upper arms still, straighten your forearms behind you until the ends of the dumbbells are pointing toward the floor. Hold for a beat, then inhale and slowly lower your arms to the starting position; repeat.

Beauty Schools

Posted by Deelytz

I wish there are more beauty schools here in our country like the beauty school in Wichita, Kansas.I heard it is a great school for people who want to learn more about beauty and take it to the next level and do services for clients. My son’s nanny is one interested student who considers studying in a beauty school but we are having a hard time finding one who teaches about beauty seriously and gives ample practice and training to their students in a salon type classrooms with real clients. I heard so much great stuff about Regency that I wish they have an institute here because if I am one of their clients, I will definitely have no doubts since my cousin gave good raves about her stylist who graduated from the institute.

I am into cute tops lately pairing it with my skinny jeans or shorts. I saw really new ones and of course, cute ones from Banana Republic. I hope I earn more before Christmas and that they go on sale for Black Friday. This might be wishful thinking but still there might be a possibility that I can get one of these…

Not Just for the Flats

Posted by Deelytz

Tory Burch is so popular because of her Reva Ballet Flats which is why some people tend to miss out the other items she has on her website. I tend to lurk and hover so long on the flats page that I forget there are jeans, wallets, accessories and other stuff on the sidebar. Tonight, I did differently and visited her jeans and saw this pair…

Biker Legging

Our ultra-fitted Biker Leggings have the traditional look of jeans but with plenty of stretch and leather insets. We love how these look with an untucked plain white or gray t-shirt and a blazer or oversized cardigan. Great with flats, boots or a high heel to balance the tough-chic look. Denim with leather panels.

Button front. Zip fly. Will hold their shape after multiple wearings. Pull on waist. Pleated detail at hips. Leather panels at sides. 98% Cotton, 2% Elastane.

Priced at $250, not bad for a designer jeans eh? :D

It’s Julia Once Again

Posted by Deelytz

Who does not love Julia Roberts? I’ve been a fan since Pretty Woman. I was in high school back then and with my natural curly hair, I always dream to have those curly locks like hers. But now that I am 33, I went beyond the hair and admired who she is as a person, a mother and an actress. I have to admit, I haven’t finished the book that my best friend gave me and I might as well wait for her movie, since she has a version of the book, Eat Pray Love. Lazy me! But I bet this movie is a must see, I love looking at the steal photos…

Is it just me as her biggest fan or am I right when I think that she hasn’t aged a bit?!?

Healthy Summer Burgers

Posted by Deelytz

I love subscribing for Jillian Michael’s entries. I get the most interesting articles and for this matter recipes, that I can read and try. Today, I got this very interesting recipe in my mail and I will surely try this one, well, I will use chicken for myself of course since I don’t eat meat anymore but here is her original recipe…

Mediterranean Burgers

Ingredients:

  • 4 sun-dried tomatoes (not packed in oil)
  • 1 1/2 cups vegetable broth or water
  • 1/2 cup millet, rinsed
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 6 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 cups lightly packed baby spinach, stems trimmed
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
  • 2/3 cup fine dry bread crumbs
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 7 whole-wheat English muffins or whole-wheat buns
  • Arugula and tomato slices, for garnish

Preparation:

  1. Place sun-dried tomatoes in a small saucepan and cover with water. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat and let soak until softened, about 30 minutes. Drain and finely chop; set aside.
  2. Meanwhile, bring broth (or water) to a boil in a medium saucepan. Stir in millet and salt; return to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer until the millet is tender and liquid is absorbed, 25 to 30 minutes. Let stand, covered, for 10 minutes. Fluff with a fork; transfer to a plate and let cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes.
  3. While the millet cooks, heat 2 teaspoons of oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and cook, stirring often, until softened and light brown, 5 to 7 minutes. Gradually stir in spinach; cover and cook, stirring, until the spinach is wilted, 30 to 60 seconds. Add garlic and cook, stirring, until fragrant, about 1 minute more. Transfer to a plate; let cool for about 10 minutes.
  4. Place the millet in a food processor and pulse to mix lightly. Add the spinach mixture and pulse until coarsely chopped. Transfer to a large bowl; stir in the feta, basil, bread crumbs, pepper, and the reserved sun-dried tomatoes; mix well.
  5. With dampened hands, form the mixture into seven 1/2-inch-thick patties, using about 1/2 cup for each.
  6. Using 2 teaspoons of oil per batch, cook 3 to 4 patties at a time in a large skillet over medium heat until browned and heated through, about 4 minutes per side. Toast English muffins (or buns). Garnish the burgers with arugula and tomato slices.

Makes 7 servings.
